Piste du Mont-Soleil
Mont-Crosin–Mont-Soleil
Starting from the Mont-Croisin pass, this route takes you through the wind turbines and solar panels to the top station of the Saint-Imier–Mont Soleil funicular railway which draws its power supply from solar energy generated on the spot.
Starting from Mont-Croisin, site of Switzerland's largest wind farm (a total of 16 wind turbines), this cross-country skiing route follows the ridge towards the top station of the Saint-Imier–Mont Soleil funicular railway via the Auberge Chez l’Assesseur where you can stop for a moment to sample delicious local specialities. The Restaurant Le Manoir opposite the top station of the funicular railway will also welcome you.
Keeping you company all along your route are the Chasseral massif to the south which rises above the Saint-Imier valley and, weather permitting, the Vosges mountains silhouetted against the sky behind the Franches-Montagnes plateau to the north.
During the walk you will also pass alongside the Mont-Soleil solar power plant which supplies the funicular railway which you will take to reach Saint-Imier at the end of the walk.
